Registration for the first test is closed and the places were limited
UHR confirms that registration is closed. That it closed on 2 July and that the test sold out is press reporting we have not been able to confirm with UHR.

The SEK 2,000 fee applies first to tests conducted in 2027
The ordinance sets the fee at SEK 2,000 per sitting, but the transitional provision says it applies for the first time to tests conducted in 2027. The 2026 test was free of charge.

The first civics citizenship test has been held
UHR confirms that the first civics test was held in August 2026 and that it was a trial test. No date has been published for the next sitting.

Step 2 of the language test is to be held by 1 October 2027 at the latest
In February 2026 the government decided that the citizenship test is introduced in three steps. Step two is reading and listening comprehension in Swedish, by 1 October 2027. Step three has no date.
