What you get
A 6-minute diagnostic
26 questions, 2 from each of the exam’s 13 areas. For each area you see whether you had both right, one right or none right. It is an indication, not a grade.
Training area by area
Every question explains why the right answer is right. It also explains why the three other options are wrong. Everything exists in Swedish and English.
Timed mock exams
Three 60-question exams. No exam shares a question with another. The clock runs and the exam cannot be paused. The questions come from their own bank of 180.
Your weak areas
Your dashboard shows where you stand per area. It builds a session of 10 questions from the three areas where you lose the most points.
What is known about the exam — and what is not
Confirmed
- The civics test is based on Sverige i fokus (2026) by UHR and Skolverket, which has thirteen chapters.
- The test is multiple choice with one correct answer, is written on paper and can only be taken in Swedish. The level corresponds to year 9.
- Only someone who has received a referral letter from the Migration Agency can register. You do not register on your own initiative.
- The knowledge requirement applies as a general rule to people aged 16 to 66.
- The SEK 2,000 fee per sitting under ordinance (2026:451) § 6 applies for the first time to tests conducted in 2027. The 2026 test was free of charge. Stateless people with refugee status or a Swedish travel document are exempt.
- The results of the August 2026 sitting are published in October. The exact date has not been given.
Not published
- Dates and locations of the next sitting. UHR states that information will come on uhr.se during the autumn.
See the status of the next sitting → - The pass mark. It is set after the sitting of 15 August 2026, which was a trial test, has been analysed.

Every line above is something that has not been published yet
We do not put up a countdown to an exam date that does not exist, and we do not invent a pass mark. When UHR publishes new information we update this page.
We give no prediction of whether you will pass the exam. That is not possible, because UHR has not published any pass mark.

Who has to take the citizenship test?
As a general rule the knowledge requirement applies to people aged 16 to 66 who apply for Swedish citizenship. Anyone who can already demonstrate the knowledge another way, for example with a pass in Swedish for immigrants course D or grades from a Swedish school, is normally not referred to the test.
How do I register for the test?
You do not register on your own initiative. The Migration Agency decides who sits the test and sends a referral letter. Only once you have that letter can you register with UHR.
What happens if I do not pass?
UHR states that someone who does not pass may be given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge again and then needs to make a new registration for the next sitting. No cap on the number of attempts has been published. The SEK 2,000 fee under ordinance (2026:451) § 6 applies for the first time to tests conducted in 2027 and therefore did not apply to the 2026 test. Questions about a new sitting are referred to the Migration Agency.
Is Medborgarklar an official service?
No. Medborgarklar is a private practice tool and is not affiliated with UHR, Skolverket or the Migration Agency. We cannot register you for the test, change your application or influence a decision. We build our questions on the official UHR and Skolverket material Sverige i fokus.
When is the next sitting?
It has not been published. UHR states that information about the next sitting and the towns concerned will be published on uhr.se. We put up no countdown to a date that does not exist, and we update the page when UHR publishes anything.
How many correct answers are needed to pass?
Nobody knows. UHR has not published a pass mark. The sitting on 15 August 2026 was a trial test and the threshold is set after the test has been analysed. Percentages circulating on commercial sites are not official, and we therefore give no prediction of whether you will pass.
In which language is the test taken?
UHR states that the test can only be taken in Swedish, that it consists of multiple-choice questions with one correct answer, and that it is written on paper. The level corresponds to year 9 of compulsory school. We show all material in both Swedish and English so you can understand the explanations, but you are training for a test that is in Swedish.
What does Medborgarklar cost and what is included?
The diagnostic is free and needs no account. A free account gives the whole area The country of Sweden plus five questions a day in total across the other areas. Full access costs SEK 399 incl. VAT as a one-off purchase and gives 24 months of access to all 150 training questions and the three mock exams. The 2027 language test is not included.
